Do You Miss Nursing?

I get asked often, “Do you miss nursing?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Each time someone asks this, my mind a whirlwind of thoughts, my stomach knotted and for a brief moment I am heart broken. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As I come to my senses, let the irrational thoughts pass, and allow ego to settle, I remind myself, worth is not measured by an outsiders perception of who I am. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Standing next to the bedside

Through the doors of the local clinic

Within the walls of the classroom⠀⠀⠀

In the research lab

From elementary schools to universities⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the cells of correctional facilities⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

At holistic retreats and wellness centers

Inside national parks⠀

On airplanes and cruise ships

Behind the screen, Debriefing the Front Lines
